John Fox believes Bears had NFL’s worst offseason

The Chicago Bears won their first division title but one former coach believes they had the worst offseason in the entire NFL.
John Fox, who coached the Bears to three last-place finishes from 2015-2017, was requested on ESPN’s NFL Live on Monday which team had the worst offseason. His choice was his club.
“I believe when you are planning to play defense, you’re going to lean on takeaways to aid a young crime, and you do not have a kicker, a trusted kicker, that you’re likely to need those things from after some of those turnovers,” Fox stated, via the Chicago Sun-Times. “I feel the kicking question is really big right now in Chicago. And that I think that might be an issue for them from the entire year.”

It is fine for Fox to have his own view on the Bears, even if others disagree. After all, a TV network used him to give his opinion. The justification of the ex-coach is the intriguing part.
Bears fans will point out that it was beneath Fox’s watch that the group cut Robbie Gould, Chicago’s all-time pioneer in points, until the 2016 season. It’s correct that Gould had struggled the prior couple seasons, but Fox and the remainder of the brass weren’t willing to give the veteran the benefit of the doubt. Since then the Bears’ kicking situation was a turnstile of calamity. This offseason Chicago has pined to no avail, for Gould’s yield.
In Fox season, Chicago used Mike Nugent, Connor Barth, Cairo Santos and three kickers. Cody Parkey lasted only 1 year before the ended his battles. The Bears are down as training camp approaches, to Elliott Fry, Eddy Pi??eiro and 2 kickers.
There are plenty of things to question about the Bears on this offseason, including losing defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, swapping in Ha Ha Clinton-Dix for Adrian Amos, how Mitchell Trubisky will enhance in Year 2 under Matt Nagy, also, naturally, the kicker conundrum. The former coach singling out the kicker scenario is interesting, particularly at a position which can be ironed out to the fly. Fox’s remarks will only help enhance the stress that kicker will be under if a brand new booter is finally landed on by the Bears.
