Sunderland have verified former Bolton and Bradford boss Phil Parkinson until 2022 as their new manager on a deal.
Even the 51-year-old replaces Jack Ross, who was sacked by the Black Cats on 8 October after winning five of the first 11 League One games this semester.
Parkinson spent three years in charge of Bolton, winning promotion.
He resigned in August as manager, with Wanderers underside following being substituted 12 points of the next grade.
Its both a privilege and enormous duty to be appointed manager of this terrific club, Parkinson said.
This really is a great squad of players, and I relish the challenge of coping with them to reach our goal of promotion from League One.
